Choose Read & select.
Open a PDF, choose Review, then Read & select. You can also find the tool by searching for copy or clipboard in All tools. Drag across a passage on the page. Double-click selects a word; Shift-click extends your selection.
Copy the part you need.
Choose Copy selection or press Ctrl+C. For the entire current page, choose Copy this page’s text. A read-only page-text panel supports ordinary keyboard selection and a copy context menu. Selecting and copying do not edit the PDF or add a history entry.
Keep your place.
Selection stays with the same page through zoom and saving a copy. When you edit, undo, change pages or switch documents, Pagekind loads the relevant text so another page’s selection cannot be copied by mistake.
When text needs extra attention.
PDFs may store columns or tables in an unexpected order. Review copied passages before relying on their order. A missing Unicode mapping is flagged visibly, and Pagekind refuses to copy a range containing it. A page without selectable text offers a route to Recognize text where Windows OCR is available; outlined letters and other page structures can also lack text.
A table you can review, then use.
For a table made from existing PDF text, choose Export > Table to spreadsheet. Mark its area on the current page and place the column dividers. Choose Build table preview, check the suggested rows, and correct the cells or remove unwanted rows. If you change the area or dividers, build a fresh preview before exporting.
Choose Export Excel (.xlsx) for a worksheet whose cells stay text, including leading zeros and long IDs. Export CSV creates a plain CSV file; spreadsheet software may turn its values into dates or numbers. Formula-like values receive a protective apostrophe in the CSV copy. Review the result in the program you use.
You choose and check the table boundaries. This does not automatically detect every table, recognize a scan or reconstruct semantic reading order. The PDF stays unchanged. Spreadsheet files are unencrypted, including when the source PDF has a password. The review grid lasts only in this window, so export the values you need before closing it.
Protected PDFs stay explicit.
If the password used to open the document does not permit copying, the reading tool explains why. An owner password can authorize copying. Copied text is plain text on your local clipboard; the PDF’s password does not protect the clipboard. The PDF itself stays unchanged.
Read & select is included in the 0.65.0 Windows preview. Interactive selection is bounded at 100,000 PDFium character entries per page. It does not reconstruct semantic tags, table structure or guaranteed reading order.
