Start with a page you want to use.
Open your PDF and choose Forms, then Design a form. To try suggested fields, download the three-field practice sheet. It has two answer boxes and a checkbox, with no personal information.
Let Pagekind find possible fields.
Choose Find possible fields to look for simple empty boxes and writing lines on the current digital PDF page. Numbered outlines show the suggested areas. Nothing is added to your PDF yet.
- Review each area. Select its row or numbered outline. Correct the field name, label and type where needed; nearby printed words are only a starting suggestion.
- Choose what belongs in the form. Untick decorations or areas you do not need. Use a text field for a name or answer and a square checkbox for a choice.
- Add your selection. Add selected fields makes one undoable change. Choose Try filling to enter sample answers, then save a new copy.
Corrections remain with their page while you zoom or switch between open documents. If the page content changes, review its areas again before adding fields. Undo can return to the earlier page. Closing checks corrected suggestions that have not been added yet.
If no areas are suggested, place fields manually below. Scanned pages, complex drawings and unsupported graphics need manual placement in this preview. A read error keeps the existing review so you can retry.
Keep your page checks in view.
The page-check overview shows current checks, checks that need refreshing and pages not checked yet. Revisit a checked page or choose Next unchecked page. Moving to a page does not run detection or add fields. These counts track the detector, not whether you have finished reviewing a page.
Corrected suggestions and exclusions stay with their page during the current session. Saving a copy keeps the page-check controls usable. Apply or explicitly discard unapplied manual field settings before jumping to another checked page. Unapplied settings are not saved across app restarts.
Add the right field.
For manual placement practice, use the workshop signup PDF. You can place a field even where no suggestion appears.
- Choose a field type. Use Text field for a name or answer, Checkbox for a yes/no selection, or Dropdown for a short list of choices.
- Give it a unique name and a clear label. A name such as Contact keeps the field distinct. A label such as Contact full name helps someone understand what belongs there.
- Place it. Add at center creates a field you can move. Draw field on page lets you drag its frame over an existing blank space. Checkboxes stay square. Escape cancels placement.
- Adjust it. Select the field on the page or in the field list. Drag its outline to move, or the corner to resize. Releasing applies the change. Exact position and size offers percentages of the visible page.
Need people to choose one answer?
Design a single-choice question with two to twenty answer circles. Preview each circle, choose a starting answer and apply the whole question as one undoable change.
Keep the rules simple.
Dropdown options go on separate lines. Under Field rules and text size, you can mark a field required or read-only, allow multiple text lines and set a text-length limit. Zero means no length limit. Apply field settings saves those settings to the working PDF. Zooming keeps settings you have not applied.
A required field is marked for the person filling the form; Pagekind has no submission service. A read-only field cannot be filled until you turn that setting off. If you remove the currently selected dropdown option, the first new option becomes selected and Pagekind tells you about it.
Try it before you share it.
Choose Try filling to use the actual fields on the page. Enter a sample name, choose an option and tick the box. Values apply automatically. Switch back to Design a form if a field needs more room. Undo and Redo work for both field design and filling.
Save a new copy when you are ready. Your original stays available. Open the saved copy and check it in the PDF reader your recipients use.
What this designer supports.
You can redesign simple fields created with this designer. Imported fields remain available for supported filling, with a clear explanation when their design cannot be changed. Suggestions cover supported empty outlines and writing lines on digital pages; they do not recognize every form or run OCR on scans. Scripts, calculations, XFA and certificate signatures are not included. Text uses a standard Latin font; complex-script text is not supported. Labels are stored as tooltips; new fields do not receive PDF accessibility tags. Use the form navigation tool to review field numbers and choose row or column order.
Pagekind 0.65.0 is an unsigned engineering preview. Removing a field is not secure redaction of its previous value. Clean-machine release checks remain pending.
